What is JetBlue Best Fare Finder?

The JetBlue Best Fare Finder is a small area on JetBlue’s website that shows you the cheapest flight for each day along a specific route.

The Best Fare Finder looks a lot like other booking websites, where you input your departure and arrival airports. But unlike other booking websites, JetBlue’s best fare finder doesn’t have a spot for you to input your dates. Instead, it pulls up a calendar populated with the cheapest flight price for each day along your chosen flight path.

The fare finder is a great way to save money on JetBlue flights, especially if your dates are flexible. Keep reading for a step by step tutorial on how to find cheap flights using the JetBlue Best Fare Finder!

How to use JetBlue Best Fare Finder to find Cheap Flights

1. Navigate to JetBlue Best Fare Finder from the JetBlue homepage

To navigate to the Best Fare Finder, visit the JetBlue homepage at

From the homepage, click “Book” in the menu bar and then select “Best Fare Finder” from the drop down menu.

2. Fill in your flight details

Clicking “Best Fare Finder” from the “Book” drop down menu on the homepage will pull up the JetBlue Best Fare Finder.

Fill in your departure and arrival locations, as well as how many tickets you need and if you want to fly roundtrip or one-way.

Once you’ve filled in your information, click “Explore fares”.

3. Choose your flight dates

Unlike other booking websites, the JetBlue Best Fare Finder doesn’t have a space for your dates of travel. Instead, it pulls up this calendar. The lowest cheapest flight dates are in bold.

In the below example, let’s say we want to go to Las Vegas at some time in December. You can scroll through the calendar in December to see which days are the cheapest to fly.

This is where you will choose your departure date.

The calendar will then re-populate with return fares.

Choose your return date and select “See Flights”.

If you scroll more than a few months ahead, click on “load fares” to pull up the lowest cost fares for those months.

If you see flights that are too expensive, but your dates are flexible, then I recommend you keep looking. Sometimes you’ll get lucky and find an ultra cheap fare thrown in the mix.

Tip: The key to finding the cheapest flights using the fare finder calendar is to remain flexible

In general, the cheapest days to fly are mid-week and during off-season. The most expensive days are usually on the weekends, around holidays, and in high seasons.

4. Choose your flight

Selecting the “See flights” button will load up all of the flights on the days you chose, so that you can select the exact flight you want.

The cheapest flights on the list will be the flights you chose on the calendar. From there, you can browse the rest of the flights departing and returning on those days.

First, choose your departing flight from the list. Click the drop down arrow to the right of the price to view the flight details. Then click “Select flight”.

Repeat the same steps for your return flight.

Tip: Sometimes the cheapest flight on the list isn’t the best one! Don’t forget to consider how the departure/arrival times and layovers will fit with your travel schedule.

JetBlue Best Fare Finder will automatically list the best flights at the top. You know you found a great deal when the cheapest flight is also labeled as “lowest” and “quickest”.

5. Review flight details and check out

After finishing your flight selections, the notice below will appear asking if you want to upgrade your flight to Blue level.

You will only see this notice if you chose the budget options, Blue Basic, for any of your flights. If you chose the cheapest flights, chances are you did choose Blue Basic flights.

There are several notable differences between Blue Basic and Blue level fights, including carry on allowances, change fees, and point value.

Choose “Switch to Blue” to upgrade your flight or “Accept restrictions” to stick with Blue Basic and proceed to your trip summary.

The trip summary shows the total cost of your flight, including taxes and fees. From here, you can edit your trip or click “Next: Checkout” to proceed to checkout.

JetBlue Best Fare Finder Trip Summary

If you’re wondering what the cheapest days are to fly JetBlue Airlines, the answer is easy!

Like most U.S. airlines, the cheapest days of the week to fly JetBlue are Tuesday and Wednesday. The next cheapest day depends on where you’re going. In general, Saturdays are the next cheapest day to fly domestically. For international travel, Mondays and Thursdays will save you money.

The most expensive days to fly are Sundays and Fridays across the board.

You can save even more money if you also have flexibility in your travel times, since early morning or overnight flights are generally cheaper than flights in the middle of the day.

Airlines use an algorithm to adjust airfare prices through the week – including JetBlue – so knowing exactly what day to shop for your flights can potentially save you loads of money.

In general, the best days to shop for flights are Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon. Airlines frequently drop prices on early Tuesday and then prices increase throughout the week, often skyrocketing over the weekend.

A great way to follow flight prices is to set a price alert, which gets sent straight to your email every time the price changes. Unfortunately, JetBlue doesn’t offer flight tracking on their website, but you can use Google Flights or FareCompare instead.

Use these tips to save even more money on your next flight with JetBlue!

  • Be flexible. I know I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again – being flexible in your dates and destinations is the #1 way to score super cheap flight deals. And this doesn’t only apply to the JetBlue Best Fare Finder! Don’t forget to check JetBlue Vacations for offers and promos to popular destinations, complete with perks, hotel packages, and tons of savings.
  • Follow along on social media. JetBlue often promotes sales on Facebook and Twitter.
  • Sign up for TrueBlue. TrueBlue is JetBlue’s reward card that lets you rack up points and use them to buy flights. There’s no credit required, so whether you’re a Jetsetter or not-so-frequent flyer, you can only benefit from signing up!
  • Use a carry-on instead of checking a bag. Carry-ons are free with JetBlue’s Blue level tickets and above.
  • Apply for the JetBlue Plus Card. Have great credit? Opening a JetBlue Plus Credit Card is a great way to save even more money if you plan to fly JetBlue frequently. Card benefits include thousands of points, 6X points on eligible JetBlue purchases, and 50% in flight savings.
  • Set flight price alerts. This is an excellent way to make sure you’re getting the best deal because price changes get sent to your email in real time. The JetBlue website doesn’t offer price tracking, but you can track your flights if you shop using sites like Google Flights.

Is it cheaper to buy one-way flights or roundtrip? Booking one-way flights is not cheaper than buying roundtrip, unless you’re mixing and matching airlines.

In fact, booking two one-way flights instead of a round-trip flight will cost you more in the event you need to change your flight. In that case, you’d be paying flight change fees and taxes for two tickets, rather than just one change fee for a round trip ticket.

Can I fly JetBlue with my pet? Yes, small dogs and cats are allowed in the cabin on JetBlue Airlines, as long as they’re in an FAA-approved pet carrier. The pet fee is $125 each way. Click here for more information on JetBlue’s pet policy.
